Who Gets Rejected
Generally, any serious chronic medical condition is declined, unless mandated otherwise by law.
This list is not exhaustive, but the following conditions (especially in the last five years) are usually never accepted for non-group coverage:
AIDS/HIV, alcohol or substance abuse, bipolar, cerebral palsy, diabetes type 1, heart attack, stroke, rheumatoid arthritis, cirrhosis of the liver, coronary artery/heart disease, chrohn's, down's syndrome, emphysema, hemophilia, hepatitis C, lupus erythematosis, multilple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, overweight, organ transplants, parkinson's, schizophrenia, ulcerative colitis.
Depending on the insurer, some conditions may be excluded from coverage or have a higher premium.
